DIGITAL IMAGING USING A SCANNING MIRROR APPARATUS

Methods and apparatus for generating a large-field, high-resolution digital image of an object (20) by sequentially generating multiple optical scenes (14) representative of different portions of the object (20), and then sequentially directing each optical scene (14) onto an optical detector (16) to generate multiple sub-images of different portions of the object (20). Each scene (14) is induced using a separate X-ray sub-beam (30), each of which is generated by spatially filtering a portion of an incident X-ray field (22) with a spatial filter (28) moving in concert with the scene-directing device (12). Once generated the sub-images (120a - 120d) are combined (122) to form the large-field, high-resolution image.
