Lubrication of internal combustion engines having silver bearing parts with essentially chlorine-free and zinc dithiophosphate-free lubricating compositions having a TBN of about 5 to 30 certain silver bearing protecting acyloxy polyalkoxy alcohols. An additive concentrate for the lubricating compositions is also disclosed.
