Cold-rolled special steel strip is produced out of hot-rolled strip in an installation consisting of means for descaling (8,9,10), annealing (12) and pickling (13), and at least one roll stand (7) for reducing the preliminary strip (3) - in one or more stages - to the required finish dimensions before a coiling unit (18). The process is made up of the following steps carried out directly one after another: a) descaling of the preliminary strip; b) reduction of this strip to its finish thickness; c) annealing; d) pickling.
