<p>A feed-tray (1), with a sliding indicator switch-bar (14), delivers documents (D) to a folder (2). In rising, the bar unwinds a ribbon-cable (15) from a spring-loaded drum (17, 16), the extension being measured by the control unit (13) through an optical sensor (18) on the drum spindle. The user inputs document length (L), and envelope depth (H) and window position (X2), by key-ad, then raising the bar, depresses it at the address position to record the distance (X3) from the document foot. Using these measurements, the controller sets (11, 12) the stops (9, 10) in both folder pockets (7, 8). The folder rollers (3, 4, 5, 6) then impose two successive folds, bringing the address, after insertion, under the envelope window. If the dimensions are incompatible with this outcome, an alarm is given.</p> |
