<p>This invention relates to nine single nucleotide polymorphisms in the human NK1R gene (1 in the regulatory region, 2 in coding regions, 2 in flanking intron sequence, 4 in the 3' UTR region) and corresponding novel allelic polypeptides encoded thereby. The invention also relates to methods and materials for analysing allelic variation in the NK1R gene and to the use of said polymorphism in the diagnosis and treatment of NK1R ligand mediated diseases, such as asthma.</p>
