CUTTER, FUSION SPLICING DEVICE AND FUSION SPLICING DEVICE FOR OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE: To ensure cutting and to prevent the danger by manpower and the deterioration in positioning accuracy by providing a cutter with a cutting blade for scoring optical fibers, clamps for clamping these optical fibers, a stress imparting means and a force cutting mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A fiber ribbon having the plural optical fibers 10 is clamped from above and below by the clamps 12, 14 arranged on both sides of a cutting point. The lower parts of the respective optical fibers 10 are scored by the cutting blade from below. The stress imparting part 22 arranged above the cutting point descends thereafter near the cutting point [arrow in Fig. (a)] and applies force on the optical fibers 10. The optical fibers are thereby bent and a tensile stress is applied on the scored parts on the lower side. The scores grow 1 to the upper part of the optical fibers 10 and the cut optical fibers 10a are obtd. The optical fibers 10b in the fiber ribbon which are not cut in this cutting stage move to the position where the force cutting blade 24b meshes with the force cutting blade 24a in Fig. (b). These fibers are then forcibly cut and the optical fibers 10C are obtd.
