PURPOSE: To increase the sealing effect, by providing a soil-seal made of an elastic material so as to be movable to the right angled direction against the axial line, between a connection rod rotating the cutter head and a bulkhead pierced by the connection rod. CONSTITUTION: A shield case 5 is fitted in the clearance between a connection rod 3 rotating a cutter head 1 and a bulkhead 4 in which the rod 3 pierces. In the case, a soil-seal 7 on which an elastic ring having a radial seal face 8 and a working face-thrust seal face 9 is stuck, is fitted to a metallic or plastic ring-form retaining member 10. The soil seal 7 is provided with a clearanceαin the case 5 and set so as to be able to slide to the right angled direction against the central axial line 6 and prevent soil from penetrating from the clearance of the connection rod 3 into the inside (the rotary joint 2 side) of the bulkhead 4. In this way, sealing effect can be increased with a simple structure. |
