PURPOSE: To execute speed change control coping flexibly with a speed change point in accordance with an acceleration request by a driver also coping with a change with the lapse of time. CONSTITUTION: An acceleration request judging means and a torque decrease detecting means are provided, decide an acceleration request by a throttle opening sensor 14, engine speed sensor 12, input shaft rotational speed sensor 20, etc., and whether an engine torque value is within a torque band or not after a speed change is estimated, to limit a speed change when provided out of the torque band. When provided out of the torque band, a speed change is performed when a throttle opening is placed in a prescribed condition. In a control device for an automatic transmission thus constituted, speed change performance matched with the acceleration request by a driver can be executed, and drive controlling a vehicle is smoothly executed, to realize acceleration without a feeling of physical disorder. Since speed change permission is outputted by detecting a torque value in a sufficiently high range, losing a feeling of acceleration is eliminated. |
