JUNCTION BOX WITH PROTECTION FUNCTION TO PROTECT FROM OVERVOLTAGE AND OVERCURRENT

A junction box, for connecting communication lines to an electronic device, protects the electronic device as well as the communication lines from alightning surge, overvoltage, and/or overcurrent. The junction box includes a first pair of sockets for connecting to the communication lines, a second pair of sockets for connecting to the electronic device, a pair of lines connecting the first pair of sockets to the second pair of sockets, and at least one combination of a surgeabsorbing element and an associated low-melting-point wire connected in direct thermal contact with a surface of the surge-absorbing element. The surgeabsorbing element heats up if the voltage or current across it becomes too high, and that heat melts the associated low-melting-point wire which forms a portion of the pair of lines.
