PURPOSE: To improve coating film properties such as the chipping resistance of a double-layer coating film and the smoothness of a coated surface by using a hypochromic coating containing aluminum powder and titanium oxide which is adjusted to have a specified elongation of the coating film and metallic coating in forming a multilayer coating film. CONSTITUTION: An electrodeposition coating A and an intermediate coating B are applied, and the coating is cured by heating. A liquid hypochromic coating C in which 0.1-30 pts.wt. of aluminum powder with an average particle size of less then 10μand 1-200 pts.wt. of titanium oxide pigment are mixed with 100 pts.wt. of a thermosetting resin composition and the coating film of which has hiding power of 25μm or less and elongation of 10-50% at 20 deg.C, a liquid metallic coating D in which 0.1-20 pts.wt. metallic pigment with an average particle size of 3μm or more is mixed with 100 pts.wt. thermosetting resin composition and the coating film of which has hiding power of 50μm or more and elongation of 10% or less at 20 deg.C, and a clear coating E are applied in sequence in a wet-on-wet manner. The coating is heated to cure simultaneously the films of the coatings C, D, and E. |
