PURPOSE: To obtain the DNA useful also for, producing the subject carboxylase capable of reinforcing the supply of substances to a TCA cycle, increasing an ability for producing useful substances such as amino acids, improving the cell yields of the useful substances, and immobilizing carbon dioxide on an organic compound. CONSTITUTION: This DNA codes a phosphoenol pyruvic acid carboxylase originated from a photosynthesis bacterium belonging to the genus Rhodopseudomonas and has preferably an amino acid sequence of the formula. The DNA can be separated and obtained from a DNA bank originated from the chromosome of Rhodopseudomonas-sp. No.7 strain (FERM P-14661) by a plaque hybridization method using as a probe a synthetic oligonucleotide having the common range sequence of ranges stored in various PPC genes.
