The device is designed to be attached to the front of an agricultural tractor and is constructed to form a steel roller (2), which supports a forward frame (1). The frame carries at its front end a levelling blade (3), which is drawn forward by an arm (4) carried by the frame. The blade is compressed on to the ground by means of springs (5), which transfer the load to the frame, and which are adjusted by means of adjusting screws (7). The springs may be moved forward or backward by the user to vary the pressure exerted on to the ground by the scraper blade. The roller is sealed and may be filled with water to give it weight or with other heavy material. A scraper bar (6) is fitted and is held against the roller by means of two small springs, to remove mud from the surface of the roller.
