Casting zirconia-based refractories esp. for glass melting furnace

A method of making cast zirconia-based refractories, contg. at least 33 wt.% of ZrO2, involves rotating the casting mould about a rotational axis such that at least part of the melt initially poured into the mould is subjected to a centrifugal force of at least 1.2 (pref. 1.5-3.5) g. Also claimed are cast zirconia-based refractories which contain 88-97 wt.% of ZrO2 and which have a crystalline ZrO2 phase and a small amount of SiO2 rich glass matrix phase.
