The guide rail (5) is fixed around a longitudinal body (4) and against its peripheral face (2) which may be an exterior or interior face. The rail (5) consists of a number of rigid sections (5a,5b) each section is arranged end to end in a circumferential direction so as to form a rigid continuous tubular body (4). Each section is fixed end to end by removable clamps (21,22,24,25) and by removable clamping or friction means (35) to the face (2) of the body.
