Method of damping flow pulses in fibrous suspensions in paper production

The method involves dividing a continuously flowing suspension (S) of fibrous material, into separate flows (S') inside a container (1), through a pressure reduction of at least 0.05 bar, and pref. of at least 0.5 bar. The container has a damping volume (9) up to a filling level (8) in the suspension, which can be altered by an adjuster (10). The volume is altered so that it increases when the suspension quantity increases with time, and reduces when the quantity decays with time. The variation in the volume may also be proportional to the change in the quantity of the suspension during the time period. The period between the flow entering and leaving the volume may take values of between 1 and 8 seconds.
