<p>The proposed sighting device for use in steering a vehicle comprises a vertical sighting bar (1), a sighting element (3) and a mechanism for correcting the direction of motion in the form of a hinge-mounted lever (2) which can pivot in the horizontal plane and on the front arm of which is mounted the sighting bar (1), the rear arm being connected to an external direction setter comprising a lifting bar (11) and an auxiliary toothed wheel (12). The sighting element (3) can move along a horizontal transverse bar (7) fixed to the front part of the vehicle cowling between the sighting rod (1) mounted above the front edge of the cowling and the cabin. Brief transverse deviations of the front end of the vehicle (e.g. a tractor) cause the sighting element (3) to leave the plane of orientation while the sighting rod (1) stays in its original position as a result of the rigid connection with the auxiliary toothed wheel (12) which rolls behind the tractor and is affected only to a limited extent by the transverse deviations from the line of movement, thereby enabling the driver to steer the vehicle with even greater precision.</p> |
