Electromagnet for automation applications

The electromagnet has a coil (2), a core (1) axially movable within the coil and a yoke enclosing the coil consisting of end walls and side walls (7). At least one end wall is a separate yoke plate like a lid set on the free ends of the side walls and resting under a bias force on the supporting faces (11) of the side walls parallel to the yoke base. The side walls have stop surfaces (9a) aligned transversely wrt. the coil axis, which engage yoke plate (6) retaining zones. At least one stop surface can be deflected under spring force perpendicular to the side wall. Inclined surfaces (8a) on the stop surfaces or retaining zones provide contact surfaces for the retaining zones or stop surfaces and are inclined from in to out towards the coil so that the yoke plate is forced against the supporting surfaces of the side walls.
