The manifold has an inner tube (2) which is enclosed by an outer shell (3), and which is separated from it by an air gap (4). The tube has at least two connecting flanges which can be fastened to a cylinder head, and the shell is made up from two half shells (14,15) which are joined by seams (18,21). The seams which extend between two neighbouring flanges, have a greater separation from the inner tube than the remaining seams. The shell has roughly the shape of a droplet in this region, when viewed orthogonal to the plane which runs between the flanges.
