The heat exchanger is used for electrodes (1) for slab or strip conductor lasers with mutually parallel internally cooled electrodes which form a discharge chamber contg. a gas to be pumped between their flat facing sides (3). Alternatively, it is used for an internally cooled resonator mirror for a gas or solid state laser, whereby the components contain a channel or channels (11) contg. a cooling medium for carrying heat away. The heat transfer from the component (1,2) to the cooling medium (5) is reduced at the rear wall (20) facing away from the heat feed in comparison to the front wall (21) opposite it. The heat transfer is further reduced at the side walls, which form struts or material bridges between the component side facing the heat feed and the side facing away from the heat feed.
