A butt for projectiles from fire-arms, esp. small calibre guns, has (a) an impact plate (9) and/or an impact plate-forming rear wall portion which is offset w.r.t. the rear wall (5) of the collection container (3) in the opposite direction from its front wall (4); and (b) a transition face (11), between the impact plate (9) and the rear wall (5), which slopes from the impact plate (9) in the direction towards the collection container (3). Pref. the impact plate (9) consists of either a steel plate with a damping layer (e.g. a plastic or rubber coating) on its back face or a plastic plate esp. of polyamide or polyurethane.
