Novel polypeptides are described which have anti-viral, especially anti-herpes goup anti-viral, activities. The polypeptide sequences are formed of up to 50, usually 5-20 amino acid residues and are generally made by protein synthetic techniques. The residues are primarily hydrophobic in nature and have a high propensity towards alpha -helical conformation.
