The piece of furniture has an underneath part (2) with seat (1), and a box-shaped top part (3) attached to the bottom part so as to be movable on a horizontal axis. Arm-rest type sides (4,5) are positioned on the bottom part. At least the visible free parts of the frame made of profiled bars (6,7) are closed by plastics cladding panels (8,9,10,11) giving an appearance of a surface wicker structure. The top wall (12) and back (13) of the top part are covered with fabric, sheeting or such like.
