PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral field system liquid crystal display device realizing high picture quality such as a wide viewing angle, a high-speed response, and high brightness. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with an array substrate 1A on which a common electrode 3, pixel electrodes 4, scanning signal lines 6, video signal lines 5, and semiconductor switching elements 7 are formed, a counter substrate 1B, and a liquid crystal layer 2 held between the array substrate and the counter substrate. A line width of at least either the common electrode 3 or the pixel electrodes 4 is larger than a gap between the common electrode and the pixel electrode 4, and a film thickness of at least either the common electrode 3 and the pixel electrode 4 is thicker than that of at least either the scanning signal line 6 or the video signal line 5. |
