Process for the preparation of colourless hydrocarbon resins and products obtained thereby

Described is a process for the preparation of colourless hydrocarbon resins having a higher thermal stability than similar known products. The process involves the treatment of polymerization mixtures deriving from the (co)polymerization by means of Friedel-Crafts catalysts of ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons, with an organometallic compound based on magnesium and/or lithium, the separation of the inorganic residues and the final removal of the volatile organic materials.
