<p>2132313 9318642 PCTABS00025 The present invention concerns a cultivating medium for plants consisting of bonded mineral wool, in particular rock wool, with a polysaccharide which is insoluble in cold water, e.g. a cationic ether of potato starch, being provided and made to adhere to at least part of the surface of the mineral wool. Due to its strongly hydrophilic behavior, such a product shows good capillary properties, such that it is very well suited for the soilless culture of plants. Moreover, the cultivating medium according to the invention may economically be produced on an industrial scale. Preferably, the cultivating medium according to the invention may be utilized for roof grassing.</p> |
