The spring has a mainly cylindrical housing (1) with sealed first end (5), second end (4), and inner wall (7). A piston rod (3) is located coaxially to the longitudinally outside it. A piston (6) on the rod is associated with the inner wall. A piston rod guide is located on the second housing end. An outer sealing ring (12) near the guide engages on the inner wall. An inner sealing ring (13) engages on the piston rod. A bridging channel (20) in the inner wall is offset towards the piston, and is of a length corresponding to that of the outer sealing ring.
