The method sterilizes the nursing bottle within the microwave oven by use of operation characteristics of a gas sensor. The method comprises the steps of: determining if the water within the nursing bottle is boiled by using a detected signal of the gas sensor while heating the water within the nursing bottle by generating a high frequency; determining if water remains in the nursing bottle when the water is not boiled, and stopping heating the nursing bottle when there exists no water in the nursing bottle; continuing to heat the nursing bottle for a set time when the water is boiled.
