PURPOSE: To provide an optical recording medium which is excellent in sensitivity, recording characteristics, regenerated light stability, storage stability, etc., not only in a conventional recording method but also in a recording method with a speed or density higher than that of a conventional method. CONSTITUTION: A phthalocyanine compd. represented by formula I [wherein M is two hydrogen atoms, a divalent metal atom, a monosubstd. trivalent metal atom, a disubstd. tetravalent metal atom, or an oxymetal atom; and L<1> is a group of formula II (wherein OR<1> is a 1-20C linear or branched alkoxy; R<2> and R<3> are each independently a 3-20C mono- to tetrahalogenated linear or branched alkyl group or a 3-20C non-, mono-, or dihalogenated linear or branched alkenyl group; and X is H or halogen)] is provided. An optical recording medium having a recording layer contg. the compd. is also provided. |
