PURPOSE: To obtain a liq. compsn. which gives an image which exhibits a high- speed fixing, a high-quality print, and a perfect water resistance without exhibiting bleeding when combined with an ink and used in ink jet recording on plain paper by incorporating specific substances into the compsn. CONSTITUTION: The compsn. contains a cationic substance pref. having a mol.wt. of 1,000 or lower (e. g. benzyl-n-tri-butylammonium chloride) and a nonionic high-molecular substance pref. having a mol.wt. of 2, 000 or higher (e. g. polyacrylamide). pref. in a wt. ratio of (10:1)-(1:10). Pref. the content of the sum of both the substances in the compsn. is 0.05-20wt.%. Usually the compsn. further contains water. a water-sol. org. solvent, and other additives.
