PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of such a situation that ultrasonic scanning is executed while a cursor is not allowed to move by providing a position detecting means to a scanning unit equipped with an ultrasonic transducer scanning the body along the surface thereof and moving the position index on a body mark on the basis of a position detection signal. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic transducer and a position detection means 12 are provided to the rear surface of the unit main body of a scanning unit 1 and the position detection means 12 is constituted of a steel ball 12a and the energizing roller 12b for pressing the steel ball 12a to an X-shaft 12X and a Y-shaft 12Y. The X- and Y-shafts 12X, 12Y are rotated through the steel ball 12a by sliding the scanning unit 1 along the skin of the body and the quantities of rotation of them are detected by potentiometers 12XP, 12YP. The character image signals of a body mark and a cursor are outputted on the basis of this position detection signal and the position of the cursor on the X-Y coordinate axes of the character display region of a monitor is moved. |
