<p>PURPOSE: To make it possible to dispose dummy pixels for protecting MIM elements of display pixels against the dielectric breakdown by the static electricity generated during the process without impairing the aesthetic appearance of display. CONSTITUTION: The parts which are the non-display regions on the outer side of a display region and are apart a distance from the terminal of the non-display regions are provided with the dummy pixels 10a, 10b, etc. These dummy pixels 10a, 10b, etc., are respectively separately driven by two-terminal nonlinear elements 11a, 11b, etc., for dummies which are more susceptible of the dielectric breakdown than two-terminal nonlinear elements 4 for display and, therefore, the dielectric breakdown takes place in the two-terminal nonlinear elements 11a, 11b, etc., for dummies more preferentially to the two-terminal nonlinear elements 4 for display when these elements receive the static electricity.</p> |
