PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for a gas bag having a smooth inflation characteristic and a good combustible surface neutrality and to establish a method for assembling the same. SOLUTION: This gas generator includes a combustion chamber 56, a plurality of wafers 74 of combustible gas generating material, a plurality of meshed members 78, an igniter tube 18 for the wafers 74, and means 64, 68, 70 for feeding the gas generated from the combustion chamber 56. A plurality of the wafers 74 are provided in a side-by-side array within the combustion chamber 56 and a plurality of the meshed members 78 are disposed alternately between the wafers 74. |
