PURPOSE: To provide a recording device capable of eliminating damage between a carrying roller and a pressure contact plate, pressure contacting the carrying roller, with each other even in a condition where a material to be recorded is not held, and of easily releasing the energizing force of the pressure contact plate at the time of paper jamming. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a pressure contact plate 12 being energized toward a carrying roller 16 in order to generate friction force, a material to be recorded detecting means 25 for detecting the material to be recorded P and PT at the upstream side contacting the pressure contact plate of the carrying roller, energizing force varying means 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, and 14A for performing so as to change the energizing force, and a means 30 for controlling the energizing force varying means so as to actuate the means based on a detection signal from the detecting means 25. |
