PURPOSE: To reduce the demagnetization of a mother tape M and, further, obtain a satisfactory transcription output by a method wherein the inclinationθM of the column of the mother tape M and the inclinationθB of the column of the blank tape B satisfy a relation;θM>θB. CONSTITUTION: Information signals recorded on a first magnetic recording medium (mother tape) M are transcripted onto a second magnetic recording medium (blank tape) B. The tape M and the tape B are respectively composed of a plurality of metal thin film type magnetic films whose columns are made to grow in inclined directions and which are built up in layers. If the inclinationsθM of the magnetic films of the tape M areθM1 ...θMn (wherein (n) is an integer not smaller than 2) from the upper layer side which is far from a carrier toward the lower layer side which is close to the carrier and the inclinationsθB of the magnetic films of the tape B areθB1 ...θBm (wherein (m) is an integer not smaller than 2) from the upper layer side which is far from a carrier toward the lower layer side which is close to the carrier, the relations;θM1 >...>θMn >θB1 >...>θBm are satisfied. With this constitution, the high speed transcription can be realized and the mass-production of a software can be achieved at a low cost.
