MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM, ITS MANUFACTURE AND ITS MANUFACTURING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To obtain a metal thin film type magnetic recording medium which facilitates the improvement of static noise generated during recording and reproduction as the improvement of the practical reliability and which facilitates the improvement of still durability after the exposure to a high temperature and high humidity atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: A ferromagnetic metal thin film 2, a diamond carbon film 4 and a lubricant layer 5 are successively formed on one of the surfaces of a nonmagnetic substrate 1. A back-coating layer 3 is formed on the other surface of the substrate 1 and a metal-containing thin film 6 whose thickness is 0.01-5.0nm and whose surface resistance is 10<2> -10<8>Ω/sq. is formed on the back- coating layer 3 by a sputtering method, a reactive deposition method or a plasma CVD method.
