PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head whose molded glass parts are not brought into contact with a magnetic recording medium even if the magnetic head is brought into contact with the magnetic recording medium and its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head 11 is composed of a core part 12 in which a gap is formed and a slider 3. A difference T in level is provided between the molded glass parts 15 and 16 and the track parts 6 and 7 of the core part 12 so as to have the level of the molded glass parts 15 and 16 lower than the level of the track parts 6 and 7 by 300Å-3000Å. Therefore, even if the magnetic head 11 is brought into contact with a magnetic recording medium, the molded glass parts 15 and 16 are not brought into contact with the magnetic recording medium. With this constitution, the problem such that lubricating material with which the surface of the magnetic recording medium is coated is shaved off and the magnetic recording medium main part is damaged and the data recorded on the magnetic recording medium are broken can be avoided.
