ANTICOAGULANT MATERIAL AND ARTICLE

PURPOSE: To provide a thromboresistant material and article that can suppress thrombogenesis of a solid resulting from hemocytotripsis and coagulation on a surface which will come in contact with blood or products of blood. CONSTITUTION: The thromboresistant material and article are used where blood or a product of blood is in contact with and the anticoagulant material and article has at least one surface that will be in contact with exposed blood or an exposed product of blood. The surface of the anticoagulant material and article has an anticoagulant agent of a copolymer of acrylic acid and 2- acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid wherein the relative amounts of the acrylic acid and the 2-acrylamido-2-mehylpropanesulfonic acid are such that the SO3 <-> groups and the COO<-> groups are in a ratio comparative to the anticoagulant bonding order of heparin.
