PURPOSE: To provide an industrial bactericidal and bacteriostatic agent containing 4,5-dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one, an organic bromine compound and an isothiazolone compound at specific ratios and having increased and durable bactericidal effect. CONSTITUTION: This bactericidal and bacteriostatic agent contains (a) 4,5- dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one, (b) an organic bromine compound (e.g. 2,2-dibromo-3- nitrilopropionamide) and (c) a 3-isothiazolone compound (e.g. 5-chloro-2-methyl-4- isothiozolin-3-one). The amount of the component (b) is 0.1-50 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the component (a) and that of the component (c) is 0.01-2.5 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the sum fo he components (a) and (b). The invention is especially useful as a bactericidal and bacteriostatic agent and a bactericidal and bacteriostatic method for water for papermaking process in paper and pulp industry in which slime damage exerts direct adverse effect on the product. |
