<p>PURPOSE: To provide a headlamp for an automobile fixed with a discharge bulb lighting system at the prescribed position where the center of gravity position of the whole headlamp is rarely changed on the outside of a lamp body hardly affected by the heat generated when a discharge bulb is turned on. CONSTITUTION: A front lens 12 is assembled at the front opening section of a container-like lamp body 10 to form a lamp chamber S, and the lamp chamber S is provided with a discharge bulb 22 serving as a light source and a reflector 21 reflecting the light emitted by the discharge bulb 22 forward. A relatively lightweight starter circuit unit 52 constituting part of a discharge bulb lighting system is fixed at a lamp body rear section (bulb replacing opening section 44) on the outside of the lamp chamber S, and a relatively heavy ballast 60 constituting part of the discharge bulb lighting system is fixed at a lamp body bottom section on the outside of the lamp chamber S. The discharge bulb lighting system (starter circuit unit 52 and ballast 60) is hardly affected by heat, and the change of the center of gravity position of the lamp is reduced.</p> |
