PURPOSE: To obtain a polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, having action inducing production of interferon-γ on immunocompetent cell and useful as a treating agent and a preventing agent for viral diseases, malignant tumor, immune diseases. CONSTITUTION: This new polypeptide has an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula (Xaa is isoleucine or threonine) or an amino acid sequence homologous to the sequence and exhibits action inducing production of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) having antiviral action, antitumor action, immunomodulating action and is useful as a treating agent, preventing agent, etc., for viral diseases, malignant tumor, immune diseases. The polypeptide is obtained by administering dead bacterial body of Corynebacterium palmarum (ATCC11827) into the abdominal cavity of mouse, taking out liver after 7 days, preparing cDNA library using mRNA extracted by ordinary method as a template, screening the library and expressing the selected DNA. |
