PURPOSE: To provide an optical connector which is simple in construction, is easy to assemble and adjust, is small in size, facilitates optical adjustment of respective optical parts, has a good reflection attenuation quantity characteristic, has versatility in assembly to measuring instruments and communication apparatuses and has a polarization independent type optical isolator function. CONSTITUTION: This optical connector includes a flange 7 in a housing A. The polarization independent type optical isolator is formed by arranging elements 3 for an optical isolator integrated with a Faraday rotor and a double refractive crystal plate. Further, the elements 3 for the polarization independent type optical isolator are installed in a cylindrical type magnet 4 by inclining the incident and exit end face of light with an incident ray axis in such a manner that its ray exit position is aligned onto the incident ray axis. A core expanded fiber 5 is held in ferrules 5a, 5b. The plug type optical isolator 1 is formed by holding the polarization independent type optical isolator described above and the ferrules 5a, 5b holding the core expanding fiber 5 on both sides thereof in the mid-way of the bore part of a flange 7. |
