PURPOSE: To select the paper corresponding to the size of an image to apply recording thereto even if a paper size or a recording direction is not let know on an image forming side. CONSTITUTION: The printing data sent from a host computer is constituted of a raster image and vector data. The raster image is compressed to be temporarily stored in a work memory and, in this stage, the printing region 62 thereof is grasped. The vector data is stored in the work memory and, in this stage, coordinates are successively checked and the printing region 63 thereof is cleared. The printing region 6 of one page is calculated on the basis of these data and the selection of the size of paper on a recording side or the presence of the rotation of an image or the necessity of expansion and contraction processing are judged so as to be fitted thereto and, thereafter, the developing processing of the image to an image memory is performed and the developed image is sent to a recording apparatus to perform recording. |
