The prefabricated refrigeration module is removably installed on a refrigerator and/or freezer cabinet. For that purpose, it comprises a wall structure extending over an opening of the cabinet and defining on the outer side thereof a compartment. The prefabricated refrigeration module also comprises a closed-loop refrigeration circuit including a compressor mounted in the compartment of the wall structure for compressing a refrigerant fluid, a condenser also mounted in the compartment of the wall structure for cooling the compressed refrigerant fluid from the compressor, and an evaporator mounted on the wall structure on the inner side thereof for distending the compressed refrigerant fluid from the condenser in order to absorb heat from and thereby cool air in the cabinet. The prefabricated refrigeration module is pre-tubed and pre-wired whereby its installation only requires mounting of the wall structure over the cabinet's opening.
