FIELD: power engineering; overhead power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: ice-on-wire alarm has power supply 9, two isolated groups of working members 1 and 2, different groups being placed at different potentials applied to them from power supply 9, and heating elements; novelty is introduction of insulating frames 1 and 2, and making both groups of working members in the form of thin wires 3,4,5,6 secured in bearings 77. Wires 3,4,5,6 also function as heating elements. Ice-on-wire alarm has two insulating frames 1,2 with wires 3,4,5,6 tightly fixed on them and mounted in bearings 7, and spaced apart at different distances on different frames.
