A method and a device for cold pressing steel dished ends for pressurised fluid tanks, said dished ends being highly ductile in their as-pressed state. According to the method, at least one preforming step is performed before the pressing step by first engaging the outer edge (11) of a circular blank (1) with the frusto-conical wall (13) of a die (3) using a first shaping means such as a blank holder (6), whereafter a second shaping means (5) engages the wall of the blank (1) with the frusto-conical wall of the die (3) in an annular region adjacent to the first. Pressurised fluid tanks, e.g. for inflammable fluids, may thus be achieved.
