The method optimally thaws the frozen food by setting the size of the frozen food, and varying the heating time and temperature according to a detected temperature rise ratio per a unit time. The method comprises the steps of sensing an initial temperature(T0) of the frozen food, sensing a temperature(T1) of the food when a set time elapses, and calculating the temperature rise ratio based on the temperature difference; calculating a thawing capacity of the food based on the initial temperature, the temperature rise ratio, and a menu chosen by the user; changing the heating conditions such as the heating temperature and time while thawing the food by reading the conditions corresponding to the calculated capacity stored in a microcomputer; repeating the above step until finishing thawing of the food.
