The castor wheel comprises a plastics wheel body (25) which surrounds an internal bearing (21) on an axle (20) fixed to a clevis which rotates on a support bearing. The internal bearing has external (22) and internal (23) collars with ball bearings (24) interposed between them. The wheel body has a hub (33) which extends axially from either side of the external collar and a rim (34) which supports a tyre (26). A wheel web (35) connects the rim to the hub. The wheel is mounted on the axle by two bell shaped annular retaining wires (40) located either side the hub. Each wire has a sleeve (42) acting as a brace whose internal end portion (43) is interposed between the internal collar and the axle. The other part of the sleeve has a stop surface (45) supported on the adjacent front face of the internal collar.
