An inorganic support obtained by sintering to constitute a support for a filtration membrane, comprising: a mineral filler of particle size greater than 20 mu m and comprising a metallic compound containing only one of the following metals: aluminium, silicon and titanium; a mineral binder reacting with the filler under heat treatment of the support between 1200 and 1500 DEG C, so as to obtain a support displaying porosity greater than 25 % and mechanical strength of over 15 MPa as defined by bending stress for plane supports, and over 5 MPa as defined by tensile stress for tubular supports, without, however, comprising a compound which might create microcracks in the support.
