The device has a cutter (28) in a rotating handgrip (14) which can be removed from the centralising pin (12) of a positioner in the base (10). The position of the cutter blade (32) can be radially adjusted in the handgrip and pref. fixed with a screw (38). For a non-circular hole a template (24) can be used. Turning the handgrip cuts a hole of a desired size and shape in the skin protection plate (22).
