The conveyor transports electronic components between the various stages of a component prodn. line and comprises an endless belt or chain driven by stepper motors and tensioned by weighted and/or spring loaded rollers. The conveyor may comprise either an endless belt (1), with regularly spaced (PO) sets of grooves (3) into which the magnetic parts (6) of the component (5) are held by magnetic attraction, or an endless chain, each link of which features a component holder with set of grooves and a built-in magnet that also holds the component secure by magnetic attraction. The inside of the endless belt has regularly spaced teeth (2) that enables the belt to be driven by toothed driving wheels. The magnetic force that holds the components to the belt may either be provided by small permanent magnets inset into the teeth of the belt, or by permanent magnets fitted to the underside of the belt guide rails and to the outside of the toothed driving wheels.
